#68 A simple swap, our favourite low sugar drinks and a homemade watermelon cooler recipe.
The Weekly Dose
I spent last weekend in Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne celebrating some friends getting married. I am always in awe of the French food markets and the quality of the produce on offer. Amongst the celebrations, we were lucky enough to sample an abundance of local delights including fresh fruits, vegetables, pastries, cheese and wine - YUM.
Despite the torrential rain and weather warnings, I’ve been keeping myself busy with lots of Pilates, Padel and nutrition coaching. With a desire to feel summery, we’ve been drinking this watermelon cooler (recipe below) non stop which really is rather tasty and refreshing. Watermelon is very hydrating and a rich source of potassium and magnesium. I used a dash of water but, according to an Instagram follower, coconut water tastes even better.
I am heading off on holiday next week but fear not, there will be 5 feel good Pilates classes for you to enjoy and we’ll be back with the lives on Monday 22nd.
Wishing you a wonderful week,

SIMPLE SWAP: Fizzy drinks —> Kombucha
OUR FAVOURITE LOW SUGAR DRINKS:
Whilst sipping an ice cold glass of rose on those long, balmy summer evenings can be heavenly, it can sometimes be nice to have a few alcohol-free alternatives to turn to on those days when you don’t feel like drinking or want to switch between an alcoholic and a non-alcoholic beverage. Unfortunately, a lot of alcohol-free swaps are high in sugar and so we thought it might be helpful to share our go-tos when you fancy a tipple without the hangover!
Bubbly and refreshing, this fruit infused water is made with simple, ethical ingredients. By using real wonky fruit that others say no to, DASH are able to make natural soft drinks without added sweeteners typically found in most flavoured waters. These cans are perfect for picnics or when you fancy some fizz on-the-go.
Tasty, made from natural and organic ingredients, and a great source of probiotic bacteria, these drinks offer support for our gut microbiome and are perfect sipping on sunny days.
Fiery and fresh, you can vary the strength of this juice by altering the amount of water you mix it with. I prefer having a very strong juice which I can then dilute with hot water to make teas or use as a base with herbs and fizzy water for a refreshing drink. This doesn’t take long to make and can be stored in the fridge for up to a week!
Made from fermenting a 'mother culture' (The 'Madre' in Agua De Madre) of bacteria and yeast with organic natural fruits, this is a delicious and naturally sparkling drink packed with live probiotic cultures to keep your gut bugs happy!
This non-alcoholic aperitif is ideal for a fresh and spicy cocktail. As avid ginger fans, we can confirm that this provides a delicious kick, especially when mixed with fizzy water and served with a sprig of rosemary.
