#70 A free Pilates class, our favourite gluten free bread recommendations & a herby bean dip recipe
The Weekly Dose
I am very excited to announce that I am running a completely free 30 minute full body Pilates class tomorrow morning (Saturday 27th July) at 9:30am. The class will be suitable for all levels and all you’ll need is a mat (or floor space) and some comfortable clothes to move in. I will share the link to all The Weekly Dose subscribers 10 minutes before the class starts and I can’t wait to see you on the mat for some feel good mindful movement. Feel free to bring any friends and family members along, the more the merrier.
Lottie’s latest CC Studio nutrition series video is live delving into all things supporting health whilst travelling which you can find here. I’m also delighted to hear how much you enjoyed this week’s 30 minute classical Pilates strength and stretch class as well as this highly requested 10 minute lower body stretch.
If you have any class or nutrition series requests, please let us know, we love hearing from you.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend,
Claudia x
LOVING: this Ultra Violette hydrating suncream. I’ve had one of these in my bag at all times since I discovered the brand a few years ago and haven’t looked back. Non sticky, hydrating and effective, it works really well under make up, I recommend it to everyone.
ASK THE TEAM: “What gluten free breads do you recommend?”
Contrary to common belief, just because something is gluten free, doesn’t mean it’s automatically healthier (the same can be said for products which are vegan and dairy free). Whilst gluten free options have become more widely available, we always advise our clients to opt for the naturally gluten free flours (buckwheat, teff, oat, almond), rather than the gluten free alternatives, as many of these contain additives and emulsifiers that have been shown to negatively impact our gut microbiome. Our go-to gluten free breads we recommend to clients include:
Top of our list when it comes to shop bought recommendations, Good Grain was founded by someone struggling to find delicious and nutritious options to suit their dietary requirements. With little on the market, they went ahead and developed their own brand using the finest organic Shipton Mill flours that are baked fresh and free from horrible preservatives and hard to pronounce additives.
This is super quick to make and works well with both savoury and sweet additions. If you don’t have oat flour, simply whizz up the gluten free oats in a food processor until you get a flour like consistency. I love this toasted with either nut butter, berries and cinnamon or eggs, avocado and kimchi!
Packed with gut-loving fibre due to the diverse mix of seeds and grains, this nutrient-rich loaf has a moreish texture and is perfect with a slather of hummus or a drizzle of honey.
THIS WEEK’S RECIPE: Herby Bean Dip
I made this whilst on holiday in Spain last week and, after receiving the seal of approval from friends, wanted to share it with you. We enjoyed this as a dip with crudités and delicious bread. It would also work well as an alternative to mash alongside other veggies, meat, fish or poultry. Beans are a great source of fibre, protein and micronutrients including B vitamins. I would recommend using Bold Beans for this as they really do taste so much better than cans.
I mashed the beans with a fork as I prefer the texture however you can always blitz the ingredients together in a blender for a smoother consistency. Feel free to add different herbs to the ones I’ve listed, it will still taste delicious!
INGREDIENTS
1 large jar white beans
1 handful torn basil leaves
1 handful mint, finely chopped
Juice of ½ lemon
1 large pinch sea salt
Drizzle of extra virgin olive oil
DIRECTIONS
Drain and rinse the beans in water before placing in a bowl. Mash with a fork until you achieve your desired consistency.
Add the herbs, salt and lemon juice and mix well before drizzling extra virgin olive oil over the top et voila.
NOTES
Optional additions: 1 small clove crushed garlic / chives.
